Discovery Activities teach observation skills and heighten one’s experience in nature. Discovery activities are used to get the students in tune with their surroundings, make them feel safe, and provide enhanced meaning to their Glen Helen experience.
Objectives for the Discovery Activities
- Students use their creativity to express their feelings towards nature (i.e., poetry, short story, drawing).
- Students use their five senses to make observations about their natural surroundings.
- Students recognize the diversity of habitats, animals, and plants in Glen Helen.
